Franz Ferdinand (pictured) is battling Chappell Roan for the top slot on the Official U.K. Album Chart this week, while ROSÉ and Bruno Mars have tough competition from Lola Young for #1 on the Singles tally.
The Albums Chart race sees Franz Ferdinand eyeing its second U.K. #1 with The Human Fear (Domino Recordings), which would be its first at that lofty position since 2005's You Could Have It So Much Better. The group has five prior Top 10 LPs.
Roan is close behind at #2 with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (Island), while U.K. duo Lambrini Girls’ debut album, Who Let The Dogs Out (City Slang), could open at #3
Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet (Island) drops back 4-2, and last week's #1, Elton John's hits collection Diamonds (Mercury/UMR), recedes to #5.
Elsewhere, Teddy Swims' first album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy – Pt. 1 (Warner Music), soars 46-13, and Beatles great Ringo Starr is eyeing a #23 debut for his new country album, Look Up (Lost Highway), which would be his fifth Top 40 solo release.
Bad Bunny's DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (Rimas) is on track to debut at #26, which would be his first Top 40 start. Right behind could be the Creed side project Tremonti with The End Will Show Us How (Napalm) at #27.
On the Singles chart, ROSÉ and Mars' "APT." (Atlantic) is only 500 chart units ahead of Young's "Messy," one of four songs from Island in the Top 10.
Gracie Abrams' current #1, "That's So True" (Interscope) will likely slide to #3, with Myles Smith's "Nice to Meet You" (RCA) lifting 13-6 and Carpenter's "Bed Chem" burbling 12-7. Her "Taste" is also on the move from 19-10.
Roan's "Pink Pony Club" could hit a new high of #11, and JADE's "IT girl" could land at #15 as the top debut of the week.
