WICKED CASTS SPELL ON SAG NOMINATIONS

Wicked painted the nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in shades of pink and green today (1/8), dominating with five nods, including best ensemble and individual recognition for Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey.

The Universal picture, which generated 915k transactions on its first day of VOD release, registered $10.8m at the box office over the weekend, bringing its worldwide total to over $681m.

James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown (Searchlight), was close behind with four nominations, including for best ensemble and Timothée Chalamet’s lead performance as the rock legend.

The Los Angeles wildfires forced SAG to cancel the nomination ceremony planned for 1/7 and announce the contenders via press release this morning.
