Chappell Roan, Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga kicked off Apple Music’s revival of Carpool Karaoke on 12/15 with "A Carpool Karaoke Christmas," a three-location drive through their catalogs and some holiday classics.
New host Zane Lowe took the keys from James Corden, who still acts as an executive producer, alongside Ben Winston and Eric Pankowski, for CBS Studios and Fulwell 73 Productions.
In her segment, Interscope superstar Gaga rode around L.A., performing a version of her saucy 2008 single “Christmas Tree" and joined Lowe (on guitar) for a duet on “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," which has already racked up 669k global Spotify streams. Gaga's duet with Bruno Mars, "Die With a Smile," is up for a Song of the Year Grammy, as well as Pop Group/Duo Performance.
Warner diva Dua filmed her part in Tokyo, delivering a rendition of The Ronettes’ “Sleigh Ride” and her own mega-hit “New Rules" and explained how a Katy Perry concert inspired her to turn pro.
Island phenom Chappell—a Grammy contender for Album, Record and Song of the Year as well as Best New Artist—returned to her family's farm in Missouri and brought her parents along for a ride that included sing-alongs on "Pink Pony Club” and the Wham! classic “Last Christmas.”
