LEGEND TO TOP BILL AT GLOBAL CITIZEN'S MOVE AFRIKA SHOWS

Global Citizen will return to Africa for a pair of massive concerts highlighting the needs of the continent—with Republic's John Legend headlining.

A long-term, large-scale effort to pioneer the touring circuit in Africa, driving economic investment, job creation and supporting entrepreneurship opportunities in host countries, Move Afrika will begin in Rwanda 2/21 with "Move Afrika: Kigali" at BK Arena before continuing west to Nigeria 2/25 with "Move Afrika: Lagos" at The Palms.

The most recent Move Afrika event, "Move Afrika: Rwanda," held in Kigali in December 2023 and headlined by pgLang/Interscope star Kendrick Lamar, prioritized job creation, skill training and youth entrepreneurship.

Said Legend: “Africa has always been a global cultural powerhouse, and it’s an honor to be part of the future of live music on the continent. I’m excited to perform in Kigali and Lagos as part of Move Afrika, an initiative that not only stages unforgettable shows but creates entrepreneurship and job opportunities, empowering young people to engage with Africa’s growing music and creative industries.”

Francis Gatare, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board added, “Global Citizen and Move Afrika’s return to Rwanda in February 2025 underscores our shared commitment to showcasing Africa’s creative talent and leveraging the global entertainment industry to address the continent's development priorities.”

Previous Global Citizen events on the continent include 2018's "Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100," which featured Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Ed Sheeran, USHER, Eddie Vedder and Chris Martin in Johannesburg, and 2022's Ghana-set "Global Citizen Festival: Accra," which brought USHER, SZA, Stormzy, and TEMS to Black Star Square in 2022.
