WHAM!'s "LAST CHRISTMAS" RULES THIS CHRISTMAS

This Christmas has been the best Christmas for Wham!’s “Last Christmas”—in terms of chart placement, that is.

The modern classic checked in at #3 on the singles chart this week, its best placement to date, and is now certified septuple platinum. That sets the table for the 12/13 release of Sony Music’s 40th anniversary Last Christmas EP, which features multiple takes on the song, including a previously unreleased version from George Michael’s 2006 performance at London’s Wembley Arena.

12/13 also brings the release of the Netflix doc Wham!: Last Christmas Unwrapped, showcasing new interviews with Andrew Ridgeley and archival footage of Michael.

Confirming the enduring nature of “Last Christmas,” Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan teamed up to cover the song on Sabrina’s Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas, out now.
