Kendrick Lamar has his second U.K. Official Albums #1 with GNX (Interscope), while on the singles chart, Gracie Abrams achieves an uninterrupted month at #1.
GNX, which was a surprise digital release on 11/22, inched ahead of the midweek #1, Michael Kiwanuka’s Small Changes (Polydor), to land at the top.
The latter settles for second place and is Kiwanuka’s fourth Top 5. With 87% of its sales made up of physical copies, the set also tops the Official Record Store and Official Vinyl Albums Charts.
Just outside the Top 10, Father John Misty lands at #12 with Mahashmashana (Bella Union). Wizkid is new at #14 with Morayo (RCA).
Michael Buble’s festive favourite, Christmas (Reprise), is up 14 to #17. Benson Boone also flies 14 places to #23 with Fireworks & Rollerblades (Night Street/Warner Records) following his U.K. tour.
On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Abrams’ “That’s So True” (Interscope) is #1 for a fourth week. The track fended off competition from “Sailor Song” (Island) by Gigi Perez at #2 and “APT.” (Atlantic) by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars at #3.
Three tracks from Lamar's GNX are in today’s Top 10. “Squabble Up” is #4, “Luther” with SZA stands at #5 and “TV Off” with Lefty Gunplay is at #6. Together, they take Lamar’s tally of U.K. Top 10 hits to 11.
Several songs from the Wicked soundtrack also impact today’s chart. “Defying Gravity” (Verve/Republic), featuring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, is at #7, while Grande’s version of “Popular” bows at #13. “What Is This Feeling,” with Erivo and Grande, enters at #17.
As Christmas season officially begins, “Last Christmas” (Epic) by WHAM! jumps eight to #8, while Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia) surges seven to #10.
