McCARTNEY, SCORSESE TAKE IN BEATLES '64 PREMIERE

Paul McCartney joined co-producer Martin Scorsese and director David Tedeschi at New York’s Hudson Square Theater on 11/24 for the world premiere of Beatles ’64, which chronicles the Fab Four’s initial visit to the U.S. and the birth of American Beatlemania.

The film, which premieres this Friday, 11/29, on Disney+, features rare archival footage shot by the famed Albert and David Maysles, who helmed the classic Rolling Stones doc Gimme Shelter, as well as performances from The Beatles' first American concert, at Washington, D.C.’s Coliseum, and, of course, on The Ed Sullivan Show.

The live material was remixed by Giles Martin (son of George Martin), who's overseen audio upgrades of the Beatles' catalog in recent years and helped assemble the band's Grammy-nominated final song, "Now and Then," in 2023.

In addition to the restored material, Beatles ’64 includes newly filmed interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with vintage contributions by the late John Lennon and George Harrison.

Those in attendance at the screening and subsequent Q&A hosted by Ethan Hawke included Disney’s Bob Iger, Emma Stone, Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, James Taylor, Elvis Costello and Steve Van Zandt, as well as co-producers Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde and Margaret Bodde.

HITS is pretty sure you will not still need us when we’re 64.
