U.K. CHARTS: KYLIE SCORES 10th #1, 1D SURGES

Kylie Minogue enjoys her 10th U.K. Official Albums #1 with Tension II (BMG), while multiple One Direction albums and singles are in the Top 40 following the death of member Liam Payne.

Tension II is the sequel to Minogue’s 2023 chart-topper, Tension. She’s the only female artist to have secured chart-topping LPs in five consecutive decades and edges up the list of artists with the most U.K. #1 albums. ABBA, Coldplay, Queen and Michael Jackson all also have 10 to their names.

All five of One Direction’s albums have returned to the Top 40 as fans mourn the passing of Payne. Midnight Memories (Simco) is at #13, Made in the A.M. at #21, FOUR at #22, Take Me Home at #25 and the group’s 2011 debut, Up All Night, at #38.

Rag’n’Bone Man’s third LP, What Do You Believe In? (Columbia), lands at #3. Following the release of its deluxe edition, Gracie Abrams’ former #1, The Secret of Us (Interscope), is up 29 spots to #7.

Australian dance group Confidence Man has its first chart entry with its third set, 3AM (LA LA LA) (Polydor), debuting at #9.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” (Island) remains at #1 for a ninth consecutive week. It’s once again the most-streamed track of the week with 5.2m streams.

Gigi Perez moves up to #2 with “Sailor Song” (Island), while “Die With a Smile” (Interscope) by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars also rises one to #3.

ROSÉ and Mars have the week’s highest new entry with “APT.” (Atlantic) starting at #4. The former makes U.K. chart history today as the first K-pop female soloist to earn a Top 10 single.

Two One Direction tracks are in today’s Top 10: “Night Changes” is at #6, while “Story of My Life” re-enters at #9.
