On Friday (10/11) the San Quentin Film Festival will host the premiere of Four Letters, a documentary exec-produced and scored by multihyphenate Common.
The film, directed by Bao Nguyen, will screen on closing night of the two-day festival, the first such event hosted inside a prison.
Four Letters focuses on the life and career of Charles Anderson, who rose from incarceration to become an industry-leading software designer and advocate for the rehabilitation of prisoners. It shares the bill with the award-winning Songs From the Hole.
“These films demonstrate a path out of hopelessness, showing people in prison that through staying positive and healing they can make it back to society," said San Quentin Film Festival co-director Rahsaan Thomas. "They also show the public that healing, community support and opportunity are better paths to public safety than punishment.”
Four Letters was produced in conjunction with Imagine Justice, Slack for Good, Enfranchisement Productions and Stardust Films.
