Sony Music Publishing has inked chart-topping songwriter and producer Julian Bunetta to a global publishing deal.
Bunetta has been on a hot streak lately, hitting #1 with Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and “Taste,” as well as Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”
Over the course of his career, the Ivor Novello Award winner has reached #1 with tracks spanning multiple genres, including Thomas Rhett’s “Look What God Gave Her” and Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands.” The latter is one of 40 songs Bunetta co-wrote or co-produced for One Direction and its members, going back to “Story of My Life” and “Drag Me Down."
Julian comes from a notable biz family; his father, Peter, produced Matthew Wilder's immortal 1983 hit "Break My Stride," and his uncle, Al, managed the late John Prine for decades and co-founded the latter's Oh Boy label. Peter, Julian and his brother Damon also operate their own production and publishing company, Big Family.
"Julian's continued success speaks volumes about his talent and integrity, and we are honored to be on this journey with him," said SMP Chairman/CEO Jon Platt.
Added SMP SVP/Creative Katie Welle (pictured, from left, with Julian and Damon), "Julian is an exceptional talent who continues to up his game. His authenticity shines through in everything he works on, and he brings the best out of everyone."
