Summer Walker (LVRN/Interscope) commemorated the 10/19 anniversary of her debut mixtape, Last Day of Summer, by partnering with LVRN Cares to relaunch her “Buy Black Women Sh*t" initiative. On 9/22, the last official day of summer, Walker highlighted a group of Black-women-owned businesses in the Atlanta area that promote self-care, offering access to discounts and more.
Some of the businesses that participated in the second annual event included City Dogz, Lot23 Chandler and The Secret Garden. A directory will be available on Walker’s website until next September.
Last Day of Summer, released in October 2018, produced the multiplatinum single "Girls Need Love" and a remix featuring Drake. Walker's latest EP, Clear 2: Soft Life, was nominated for last year's Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. More recently, her "Good Good" f/USHER and 21 Savage was nominated for the MTV VMA for Best R&B Video.
