THEY CAN BE SERIOUS: McENROES HONORED BY NYC PARKS FOUNDATION

Sibling tennis stars John and Patrick McEnroe were among the honorees 9/26 at New York’s annual City Parks Foundation dinner and concert benefit at SummerStage in Central Park, which raised $1.3m for the Gotham parks system.

The McEnroes were presented with the 2024 City Parks Foundation Icon Award, honoring their philanthropic efforts in New York. Nuveen Real Estate Global Head of Real Estate Impact Nadir Settles was honored with the People & Parks Award in recognition of the company's significant work on affordable housing and environmental sustainability.

Guests were treated to performances by Peter Frampton and Patty Smyth, who’s been married to John McEnroe since 1997. Smyth was backed by a band that included Steve Jordan, Larry Campbell, Clifford Carter, Paul Shaffer and Neil Jason.

City Parks Foundation Executive Director Heather Lubov said in her remarks, “City Parks Foundation builds community, neighborhood by neighborhood, through outreach, training, coaching, making grants and generally being cheerleaders for thousands of volunteers who are working to improve their communities and our city.”

Seen sidestepping a rousing volley are gala chairs Roland Merchant, Lubov, Greg Williamson, Angela Barkan and Joe Killian.
