Grammy winner Laufey is paying it forward with a scholarship to Syracuse University’s new Music Business master’s program.
The Laufey Scholarship for Graduate Students will provide $100k over the next 10 years to the Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries within the university’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. The artist performed 9/24 at Spotify Studios in Los Angeles to introduce the scholarship, which will be awarded for the first time in 2025.
The Icelandic rising star, who graduated from Berklee School of Music before signing with AWAL/SME, said, “I’m incredibly proud to support this scholarship and be part of such an important moment for the Bandier program. The talent, knowledge and passion that my team brings to our work every day are a direct result of the incredible education they received at Syracuse University.”
That team includes manager Max Gredinger of Foundations Music, attorney Harry Roberts of Mark Music and Media Law and publisher Gabz Landman of Warner Chappell.
“We look forward to welcoming these new graduate students into our community and working with them to develop the core that they need to succeed," said Bandier Program Director/Professor of Practice Bill Werde (pictured with Laufey).
HITS is hoping to drop in for a nice beef on weck, if Mr. Werde is buying.
