BORRIS BOUNCES TO THE CORE

Jon Borris is joining The Core Records as GM following a six-year run at Republic, where he helped engineer several pop crossovers from the country-leaning roster of Big Machine Label Group.

Launched last year, The Core Records is an offshoot of Kevin "Chief" Zaruk and Simon Tikhman's The Core Entertainment, which manages Nickelback, Bailey Zimmerman, Dillon James, Nate Smith and Josh Ross, among others.

Prior to his tenure at Republic, Borris worked for nearly 20 years at Sony Music, where he was heavily involved in campaigns promoting the work of Adele, Harry Styles, Beyoncé and Shakira.

“From the first conversation with Simon and Chief, I knew I wanted to be a part of The Core’s culture,” Borris said. “What they and their exceptional team have built and already accomplished is extraordinary and my goals are to help magnify our brand, compete at the highest levels and lead the mission to make The Core Records’ artists superstars."

When reminded that he'll also have to field calls from HITS, Borris shuddered visibly.
