The ever-present Morgan Wallen leads the nominations for this year’s Country Music Association Awards with seven, with the Big Loud star picking up nods for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year,
Wallen is also nominated for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year for his Post Malone collab “I Had Some Help.” He also notched a Musical Event of the Year nod for “Man Made a Bar.”
Cody Johnson (Warner Music Nashville) and 21-time CMA winner Chris Stapleton (Mercury Nashville) are each up for five awards, followed closely by Nashville newbie Malone (Republic/Mercury) and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson (BBR) with four apiece.
Three-time nominees for the 58th annual CMAs include Louis Bell, Luke Combs, Charlie Handsome, Hoskins, Jelly Roll, Megan Moroney and Kacey Musgraves.
This year’s biggest surprise might be Beyoncé being shut out completely for her crossover chart-topper Cowboy Carter (Parkwood/Columbia) album and its attendant singles. Then again, Bey took to Instagram way back when to proclaim, “This ain’t a country album… this is a Beyoncé album.”
The ceremony will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on 11/20 at 8pm ET on ABC and next day on Hulu. Wake HITS up when it's time to write the recap?
