AT DNC, ROLL CALL GETS A PLAYLIST

A mere month ago, the Dems’ only hope was an elder who could barely form a sentence—which made Tuesday night’s edition of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago seem like the modern-day equivalent of The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Obamas headlined the bill, eliciting cheers and tears at the United Center and in living rooms across the USA, but the opening act delivered as well.

DJ Cassidy took the stage and spun intro music for each state during the traditionally interminable roll call. Afterward, some intrepid Spotify user assembled the 62 songs—some states got more than one selection—into a playlist. Here it is. Play loud.

While we’re on the subject, here’s Barack’s Summer 2024 Playlist.
