Capitol's Hanumankind has exploded with "Big Dawgs," which has a familiar flow, a viral video and the potential to be a game-changing moment for Indian rap.
The English-language song moved to #1 on Spotify's Viral chart this week. It's also now in the Top 50 of Spotify's U.S. and global daily charts.
HMK hooks fans in the opening verse with a nod to the "Poppin My Collar" cadence of Three 6 Mafia's Project Pat.
The adrenaline-fueled clip for "Big Dawgs," meanwhile, reeled in U.S. fans last week when rap influencers/streamers started reviewing it. Directed by filmmaker Bijoy Shetty, the video features Hanumankind in a Well of Death, an infamous Indian festival attraction. Its aggressive visuals are matched by a rumbling synth as HMK keeps the song interesting with tempo changes and pitch-shifted vocals.
"Big Dawgs" has continued to grow at virtually every platform since it began charting last week. It's moving exponentially on TikTok and Reels and the video is Top 20 on YouTube.
