After seven years, respected British exec Alison Donald is exiting her role as head of Global Creative at Kobalt to pursue "other endeavors."
Donald signed a wealth of key talent during her tenure at Kobalt, including Rage Against the Machine, Sam Fender, Cigarettes After Sex, Koffee, Gabriels, Jungle, Khruangbin, The Last Dinner Party and Tom Odell.
She was previously co-president at Columbia Records U.K., MD at Chrysalis Music Publishing and head of A&R at Warner Chappell Music. She began her career more than three decades ago at Arista Records.
“Working with the team at Kobalt and all of the incredible artists and writers on the roster has been very rewarding," Donald said. "I am extremely proud of what we’ve all achieved. I’m sad to be leaving both my friends at Kobalt and our wonderful roster but I am looking forward to the next chapter.”
Donald joined Kobalt in 2017, overseeing A&R and creative in the U.K. and Europe for both Kobalt Music Publishing and AWAL’s U.K. and European creative teams. In March 2023, she was promoted to head of Global Creative Publishing, dividing her time between London and Los Angeles.
At Columbia, Donald signed and worked closely with George Ezra, Rag’N’Bone Man, Declan McKenna and The Civil Wars. During her 10 years at Chrysalis, she signed and oversaw projects by Damon Albarn, Danger Mouse, Thom Yorke and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
At Warner Chappell, where Donald worked from 1996 to 2000, she signed The Strokes, Gomez and Gregg Alexander.
“Alison’s fervor for creativity and music have always been felt throughout the entire organization, inspiring our teams every day,” said Kobalt President Jeannette Perez. “Her palpable energy and enthusiasm will be missed by everyone at Kobalt. We wish her all of the best as she embarks on her next journey.”
