MIRANDA MAILS POSTCARDS FOR REPUBLIC DEBUT

If you think the mail no longer brings nice surprises, think again, as Miranda Lambert is about to send us some Postcards From Texas.

That's the title of the country star's first album for Republic, which arrives 9/13 and is preceded by the hard-edged but humor-packed shuffle "Alimony." Lambert has been teasing the latter on social media for the past week.

The artist dips deep into the well of Lone Star attitude for "Alimony," about which she remarked, "Once we had the line 'If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone/ Remember the alimony,' we were off! We used every Texas metaphor we could come up with on purpose. We wanted to take something kind of shitty and put some humor in it. I mean, the guy gets out pretty easy if all he does is move back in with his mom.”

As ever, Lambert's home state looms large over the entirety of the 14-song Postcards From Texas, thanks to material like the anthemic "Wranglers" and the presence of her Marfa Tapes collaborators Jack Ingram (who co-wrote two songs) and Jon Randall (who pitched in on four and co-produced the set with Lambert).

Postcards follows 2022's Palomino. Lambert has a handful of shows on tap this summer, beginning Friday (7/26) in Pearl, Mississippi.
