Republic Records has promoted David Wolter to co-head of East Coast A&R (based in New York) and Miles Beard to co-head of West Coast A&R (based in Los Angeles), in which capacity they will report to President/Chief Creative Officer Wendy Goldstein. Both have been with Republic since 2022.
Wolter, who has worked closely with such acts as Conan Gray, Greta Van Fleet and Miranda Lambert, has signed Zoë Kravitz, The Dare and LIVINGSTON. He arrived at Republic after a five-year stint as EVP at Virgin Records and beforehand spent a decade at RCA, where he signed Bleachers, Walk the Moon and Elle King. Wolter also worked at Virgin from 1997 to 2007, during which time he signed Damon Albarn's Gorillaz.
Beard, who's been DJing since age 13 and, umm, has a beard, works closely with the Jonas Brothers, Stray Kids, TXT and Ayra Starr in collaboration with Republic's label partners. He previously spent a decade at Artist Partner Group, where he climbed from intern to SVP A&R. Beard has worked with artists like Charlie Puth, David Guetta, Jason Derulo and Pitbull.
“When it comes to A&R, David and Miles are two of the industry’s most savvy and visionary executives," said Goldstein. "They could not be more different in terms of preference, approach and location, but they’re the perfect match to run this department."
Our idea of running anything, meanwhile, is to just let ChatGPT do it and see what happens.
