WHAT A FEELING: PRIMARY WAVE SCORES FORSEY CATALOG

Primary Wave has acquired the writing and producing shares of hitmaker Keith Forsey’s catalog, including such 1980s staples as “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” “White Wedding" and “Rebel Yell."

The deal also encompasses tracks Forsey wrote for the films Flashdance, The Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, The NeverEnding Story and Beverly Hills Cop.

“It gives me a good feeling to work with a company like Primary Wave, where I know they will respect and take care of the music that I had the good fortune to be able to create with many talented people throughout my career,” Forsey said.

Robin Godfrey-Cass, Primary Wave partner, U.K. Acquisitions, added, “Keith Forsey’s career as a songwriter, producer and musician is nothing less than iconic.”

Forsey co-wrote the lyrics to Irene Cara’s “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” which spent six weeks at #1 in 1983. It won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

“Don’t You (Forget About Me),” the #1 breakthrough for Simple Minds, was featured memorably in 1985's The Breakfast Club. Cowritten with Steve Schiff, the song was interpolated by Nicki Minaj on “Blazin’,” from her 2010 debut album.

Forsey was also one of the writers on “Hot Stuff,” Donna Summer’s acclaimed turn from disco to rock. The song spent three weeks at #1 in 1979 and won the singer the Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

As a producer, Forsey was behind the boards for many of Billy Idol’s best-known songs, including “Dancing With Myself,” “White Wedding (Part 1),” “Hot in the City,” “Rebel Yell,” “Eyes Without a Face,” “Flesh for Fantasy,” “Cradle of Love” and Idol’s covers of “Mony Money” and “To Be a Lover.” He has also produced The Psychedelic Furs, Icehouse, Nina Hagen, Rooney and The Pointer Sisters.
