Whether the show-stopping glitz of Wasserman’s Chappell Roan clad as the Statue of Liberty in ass-less chaps at Founders Entertainment/Live Nation’s sold-out Governors Ball in New York, IAG’s punk godfather Iggy Pop (pictured) performing topless at 77 years young in Pomona, California, at the sold-out inaugural No Values fest or WME’s mighty Queens of the Stone Age head-banging with 150k of their closest German friends at Rock im Park/Rock am Ring, punters from around the world went nuts as the summer music festival season kicked into high gear last weekend.
The fun continues this weekend with Pretty Lights (CAA), Post Malone (UTA), Fred Again.. (Wasserman) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (CAA) headlining Bonnaroo (6/13-16) in Manchester, Tennessee; Green Day (CAA), Avenged Sevenfold (CAA), Måneskin (WME) and Bring Me the Horizon (UTA) slated for the king of Eastern European rock festivals, Nova Rock (6/13-16), in Nickelsdorf, Austria; and QOTSA, Fall Out Boy and Pantera (ITB) anchoring hard-rock haven Download fest (6/14-16) at Donington Park in the U.K.
Meanwhile, several of the top names in hip-hop will descend upon SeatGeek Stadium in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview this weekend for Summer Smash, presented by Lyrical Lemonade and SPKRBX. The bill sports the first collaborative performance by Travis Scott (CLG) and his Cactus Jack crew tonight (6/14); Playboi Carti, Kodak Black and Lil Tecca tomorrow; and drill legend Chief Keef’s first hometown show in 10 years to close things out on Sunday.
