Saweetie, MC Lyte and Big Lez will headline a MusiCares-sponsored 6/18 panel discussion entitled “She’s Iconic: A Salute to Women in Hip-Hop" at Amazon Studios in Culver City, California.
The panel will also include Sierra Lever, Head of Hip-Hop/R&B at Amazon Music. Radio and podcast personality Laiya St. Clair will moderate the conversation, the latest installment of MusiCares’ year-old “Humans of Hip Hop” (H3) programming.
Topics will include the influence of pop music, mental-health awareness and the cultural biases that work against female performers and executives. Prior to the panel, there will be a welcome mixer and a hearing-health event that will include custom earplug fittings for guests who qualify.
MusiCares supports the health and welfare of the music community through preventive, emergency and recovery programs, including financial grants.
A recent H3 event in Chicago featured Common and Lupe Fiasco; the next is scheduled for 6/24 in Oaktown.
