The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), in partnership with the Commercial Music program at Tennessee State University (TSU), Music Makes Us and the RIAA, has wrapped up the third annual Maymester Music Business Accelerator program at TSU.
For the past three weeks, BMAC provided TSU students access to leadership, mentorship and career resources to help them break into the music industry.
“Over the course of the Accelerator, I’ve watched these students immerse themselves into a wide range of disciplines in the music industry and engage with some of the most powerful players in the game,” BMAC CEO/President Willie “Prophet” Stiggers said. “BMAC is proud to serve as the pipeline for opportunities, resources and mentors for the next generation of Black artists and music industry executives."
Led by Grammy-winning professor Larry Jenkins Jr., this year’s guest lineup included Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav, Kaliii, Daisha McBride, Connie Diiamond, Rolling Loud’s Tariq Cherif, Live Nation’s Shawn Gee, Amazon Music’s Sierra Lever, CAA’s Mark Cheatham, SiriusXM’s Swaggy Sie and the RIAA’s Mitch Glazier.
Additional programming featured takeovers by Apple Music Pathway, Def Jam, SiriusXM and Live Nation, among others.
