KENDRICK COOKS UP PRIMARY WAVE'S SECOND #1 IN A MONTH

With Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us"—which samples Ray Charles—debuting as the #1 single overall in the wake of the rapper's war of words with Drake, Primary Wave has scored its second chart-topper of the past three weeks.

Hozier's "Too Sweet," co-written by Primary Wave's Sergiu Gherman and Tyler Mehlenbacher, rang the bell in late April, sparking the Irish singer-songwriter's current hot streak.

"Not Like Us" samples Charles' "I Believe to My Soul," first released on the R&B legend's 1961 album The Sounds of Ray Charles. It's Lamar's first #1 overall single since 2017's "Humble."

In a fun twist, Primary Wave scored a Top 10 debut this week with one of Drake's own diss tracks, "Family Matters," which samples PW client James Brown.

Meanwhile, we're wondering if we should sample the sound of executives hanging up on us.
