UPDATE: Dua Lipa's "Training Season" opened as the top global debut on Spotify, arriving at #7 with 4.2m streams.
Warner's Dua Lipa has returned with "Training Season," the second single from her forthcoming album. The song was written by Lipa and Caroline Ailin, Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr. and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, with production by Parker and Harle. Lipa came up with the concept of the song after dipping a toe in the dating pool.
"I'd been on a string of bad dates, and the last one was the final straw," she explained. "The next morning I arrived at the studio to Caroline and Tobias asking me how it went and I immediately declared, 'Training season is over.' Like the best ‘day after’ debriefs with your mates, we had a lot of laughs and it all quickly came together from there."
The "Training Season" video, directed by Vincent Haycock, finds Lipa surrounded by thirsty dating prospects vying for her attention. The potential suitors ultimately start fighting. Chaos ensues.
Lipa's follow-up to 2020's Future Nostalgia is expected to arrive later this year.
