At the 2024 Grammys, Fax/Epic breakout Tyla scored the first Best African Music Performance trophy, for her hit “Water,” which is making a splash in every possible way. Could the Johannesburg native lead a wave of global success for African music? We shall see. But she’ll probably want to drink something stronger than water after being associated with us.
