This Thanksgiving, RCA’s Sam Selolwane—and yes, you may call her the Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B Radio or, per her IG handle, @SamTheHypebeast—is ladling a little extra gravy on her plate. “On My Mama” by Victoria Monét (who is herself offering thanks for multiple big Grammy noms, including BNA) gives Sam and team their seventh #1 this year and her 12th since assuming head of promotion duties.
Shall we review a few of her squad’s other chart-topping achievements? Let’s. SZA’s “Kill Bill,” “Shirt,” “Snooze” and “I Hate U.” “Latto’s “Big Energy” and “Put It on da Floor, Put It on da Floor Again.” “Essence” by Wizkid f/Tems, Tems’ “Free Mind,” Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplants,” Chris Brown’s “Under the Influence,” and “Wild Side” by Normani f/Cardi B.
It’s a formidable list, as even hapless turkeys like us can plainly see. Sam and her hardworking crew—including Norjon Hedman, Charita Brittenum, Akil Taffe and PR Rob—have had a lot on their plates. But they’re ready for seconds.
