FIRE STILL BURNS

Half a century after its release, Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up” remains one of his most salient works, packing a punch as relevant today as it was in 1973.

UMe has posted a video from 1973 of Marley and the Wailers performing the song at the Sundown Theatre in the village of Edmonton, North London, in conjunction with the 50th anniversaries of Burnin’ and Catch A Fire. A 50th anniversary reissue of Catch A Fire, Marley’s first album for Island Records, will be released on 11/3.

The new sets will include a CD of three performances from the Sundown Theatre shows: “Slave Driver,” “Get Up, Stand Up” and “Stop That Train.” The recordings have only previously been available on bootlegs.
