AT 50, THE ROXY ROLLS OUT THE RED CARPET

The 50th anniversary celebration of the Sunset Strip mecca The Roxy will include two performances by Neil Young With Crazy Horse, a Live at the Roxy compilation album and a Grammy Museum exhibit.

Young, the first performer to play the venue back in September 1973, will do two shows (9/20-21) to benefit The Painted Turtle and Bridge School.

On 9/24 Stephen Marley will perform Live at the Roxy, the legendary album recorded in 1976 by his father, Bob Marley. Additional concerts during the fall celebrations include d4vd (9/6), STRFKR (10/27) and Unknown Mortal Orchestra (11/6).

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and Roxy owner/co-founder Lou Adler is overseeing the Live at the Roxy album, which will feature recordings made at the club by Young, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, The Ramones, Warren Zevon, Brian Wilson, Nicolette Larson, George Benson and others. The LP will initially be available for listening at the Grammy Museum's upcoming The ROXY: 50 and Still Rockin’, opening 9/17. It will thereafter be available for purchase to benefit MusiCares.

The City of West Hollywood will present Lou Adler and his son Nic Adler in conversation for its Artists & Icons series on 9/12 at the West Hollywood City Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room. The event coincides with the debut of a photographic exhibit about the Roxy’s 50th anniversary at the adjacent West Hollywood Library.

Gotta wonder if Neil will again dedicate a song to David Geffen.
