REDINGTON IS AMAZON MUSIC'S NEW GM

Ryan Redington has been promoted to general manager at Amazon Music, a role previously held by Steve Boom. Redington, formerly vice president of music industry operations, will report to Boom who was elevated to VP Audio, Twitch and Games for Amazon last December.

Redington joined the company 15 years ago and has been on the Amazon Music team for the past decade. He was part of the original team that launched the streaming service in 2014. He's also been a part of Amazon Music’s senior leadership team for the past six years overseeing the Music Industry organization, inclusive of label and artist relations, artist and genre marketing, livestreams and editorial content, playlisting and programming, physical merchandise and music and artist analytics. Before joining Amazon Music, Redington worked for Amazon in its physical music and video divisions.

"I’d like to take a moment to say that building and leading Amazon Music every day for nearly 12 years has been the highlight of my professional career," Boom said in a statement. "And the reason for that is all of you. Thank You for making Amazon Music such a special place. While I will to continue to play an active role in the success of Amazon Music, I’m excited for this change and the future it holds for Amazon Music.

"We have a terrific leadership team who—working with Ryan—will ensure that we not only continue on our current path but also forge new and exciting paths for Amazon Music. And when I think about the range of businesses that now fall within my organization, I’m motivated by the incredible responsibility and opportunity we have to deliver more strategic value to artists, to creators, and to our customers."

Boom, who joined Amazon in 2012, currently oversees global responsibility for Amazon Music, Audible, Wondery, Amp, Twitch and Amazon Games on Amazon’s S-team. He's also the longest-running Chairman of the Board of Directors of MusiCares and was recently named Music Visionary of the Year by the UJA-Federation of New York. We, on the other hand, haven't managed to crawl out of bed yet.
