RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW: RECORDING ACADEMY, U.N., AEG TEAM UP ON CLIMATE

Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they have utility belts, flying suits or a magic lasso that makes you tell the truth. But we digress.

Recognizing that with great power comes great responsibility, the Recording Academy has launched the Right Here, Right Now Music initiative, designed to bring artists together on stages around the world to raise awareness of the human-rights crises resulting from climate change.

The Right Here, Right Now Music Mini Global Climate Concert Series kicks off 4/13 with a performance by The Lumineers' frontman, Wesley Schultz, and special guest Yola at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado. Produced by AEG Presents, the inaugural concert will be filmed for broadcast, with proceeds benefiting United Nations Human Rights climate-justice programs and MusiCares. Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said the org was "honored" to be involved, proclaiming, "Music has no boundaries so we are excited to partner with the artist community and work with the United Nations to further its human-rights goals and ultimately, better the world."

"We're proud to help launch the new Right Here, Right Now Music initiative and its first activation, the Mini Global Climate Concert Series, where artists will amplify awareness of the human-rights crisis resulting from climate change," said Recording Academy President Panos A. Panay. "I am the son of a U.N. worker, so this partnership has deep personal resonance."

In tangentially related news, the former president’s slogan was “With great power comes no responsibility.” He also claimed that climate change was a hoax. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have more indictment news to read.
