Nzinga "Zing" Shaw has joined the Recording Academy as chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. She is known for her pioneering DEI work with the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.
Said Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., "Zing's groundbreaking work in DEI speaks for itself. We're excited to see how she'll amplify our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and drive positive change throughout the organization."
Prior to joining the Academy, Shaw established the MOSAIC (Model of Shaping Atlanta Through Inclusive Conversations) symposium and made the Hawks the first professional sports team to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. She was the first chief DEI officer at the NBA itself, Starbucks and Edelman.
