WHITNEY HOUSTON TAKES US TO CHURCH

Arista/Legacy Recordings and Gaither Music Group, in cooperation with the estate of Whitney Houston, have announced that Houston’s gospel album, I Go to the Rock: The Gospel Music of Whitney Houston, will be available on 3/24. The first single, “Testimony,” was released today (2/9). The 15-track collection includes six unreleased songs, some from as early as 1981.

Said Pat Houston, executor of the Houston estate, “I Go to the Rock is a testament of Whitney's heart. Her love of gospel music permeates every song with love, compassion and conviction. To love Whitney is to love what she represents to all who love the gospel. I salute this project knowing that Whitney always stood on a solid rock with her love of gospel music.”

A documentary special aptly titled I Go to the Rock: The Gospel Music of Whitney Houston will also premiere today, on UPtv and AspireTV at 8pm ET. Hosted by CeCe Winans and produced by Barry Jennings, it explores Houston’s faith, beginning with her very first performance. Highlights include Houston’s appearances at the NAACP Image Awards, American Music Awards and Ebony’s 50th Anniversary TV special.
