The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) has partnered with Primary Wave for the BMAC Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Makers Grant, which was announced just days after the revered producers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Unveiled at a private, post-Rock Hall ceremony soirée, the grant will award $5k annually to an emerging BIPOC producer hoping to break into the music industry and provide studio time and mentorship from BMAC board and Executive Leadership Council members. Recipients will be screened by BMAC this month in a national search, and finalists will be selected by Jam and Lewis themselves.
BMAC co-founder/Co-Chairman Willie “Prophet” Stiggers noted, "Music has the power to heal, inspire and motivate, and we must ensure we're supporting the next generation of storytellers, musicians and the creative community as a whole."
Online applications close 11/15; the winner will be announced in December. Interested parties can apply here while we continue to recover from the eventful, five-hour induction ceremony.
