HALLWOOD IS
NOW TAL-WOOD

Neil Jacobson’s writer/producer management shop Hallwood Media has tapped Tal Meltzer as VP A&R.

Previously a busy writer/producer at APG, Meltzer also cofounded music-production company Super X and has 400+ syncs under his belt with Vanacore. His credits as producer, writer and/or musician include Fergie, Cash Cash, Julia Michaels and Lindsey Sterling, among others.

“Tal embodies what I believe a true A&R should be—someone who speaks the language of music while simultaneously understanding the insights needed to analyze trends and the needs of our Hallwood customers: music supervisors, advertising agencies and A&Rs,” reads a quote from Jacobson, who at one time co-managed Meltzer as a producer with Darkroom's Justin Lubliner. “Also, with any luck, this is the last time he will have to interface with those idiots at HITS.”

Meltzer declared himself “thrilled” with the gig, noting: “From the first time I met Neil, it was clear that we shared a common vision for what the future of music licensing in television and film could look like. I want to thank Neil for welcoming me to the Hallwood family and inviting me on this incredible adventure. Although talking to those HITS dimwits is an adventure I could do without.”

Hallwood has been on a bit of a run lately, participating in a brace of #1 hits (including Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” Cardi B’s “Up” and BTS’ “Dynamite”) and racking up an impressive 22 Grammy noms this year for its roster. Speaking of which, the company’s stable now includes such heavyweights as Jeff Bhasker (Ye, Bruno Mars), Sounwave (Kendrick Lamar), Murda Beatz (Drake, Ariana Grande, Migos), David Stewart (BTS, Jonas Brothers), Quay Global (Lil Baby), Ike Beatz (Lil Uzi Vert), IAmTash (Pop Smoke), Yung Dza (Cardi B), Bipolar Sunshine (DJ Snake, Beyoncé), Beach Noise (Lamar, Baby Keem) and Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), to name a few.

In the wake of the Stranger Things finale and yet another resurgence of a classic track, Hallwood is currently funding a study to see what other music attracts bats.
