GLASTO VIEWING BREAKS BBC RECORDS

The Glastonbury festival has crushed the BBC’s digital viewership records: Festival performances were streamed a record 34.1m times on the BBC iPlayer, 23m of them live, representing a 116% spike over 2019’s numbers.

The 23m livestreams are the most ever for a BBC program brand, MusicWeek reported. Especially popular were sets by Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Crowded House, Diana Ross, Little Simz, Megan Thee Stallion, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Sam Fender.

The data covers viewing and listening between 6/10 and 6/27.

“The BBC provided the ultimate armchair experience of the world’s best-loved festival this weekend with a dedicated Glastonbury channel on BBC iPlayer, 6 Music’s All Day Glastonbury coverage, performances from the biggest artists on demand on BBC Sounds and over 35 hours of coverage on our TV channels," said BBC Director of Music Lorna Clarke.

More than 90 sets from the five filmed stages of Glastonbury 2022 are available for a limited time on BBC iPlayer.
