JUNOS TO HONOR MENDES

Shawn Mendes will return to his Canadian roots to accept an International Achievement Award at the 51st annual JUNO Awards, 5/15 in Toronto.

Only seven other artists have received this honor: Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Céline Dion, Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, Drake and Arcade Fire.

“Accepting this award will be a surreal moment,” said Mendes, an 11-time JUNO winner who's also currently nominated for 2022 TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year laurels. “To be recognized for my work not only in Canada but around the world is a tremendous honor and I'm humbled to join an outstanding group of artists who've helped put Canadian music on the map.”

The awards ceremony, with an in-person audience for the first time since 2019, will take place at Budweiser Stage. In lieu of congratulatory flowers, we plan to fill Mendes' dressing room with 62 buckets of poutine in honor of the 62 billion streams his music has pulled in worldwide and 26 tubs of extra gravy—one for every JUNO nom he's received thus far.
