"CHEESIN'" FOR CHARITY: SONG RAISES $175K FOR MUSICARES

Early on in the pandemic, Cautious Clay, Remi Wolf, Still Woozy, Sophie Meiers, Claud, Melanie Faye and HXNS dropped a song called "Cheesin'"—via JJ Corsini’s label, slowplay, in partnership with Republic Records/Imperial—promising to donate 100 percent of the profits. According to a recent tally, the group has raised more than $175,000 for the MusiCares Covid-19 Relief Fund.

"Cheesin'" charted on Spotify's Viral 50 upon release, earning praise from Zane Lowe as well as assorted other tastemakers and a plethora of blogs.

“This song was such a no-brainer for us," said Corsini. "It stands for everything we did as a brand-new label: A great pop song, created by some of our favorite new artists, with a really meaningful and sincere philanthropic mission.”

Clay added, "When COVID hit in 2020, I had been working on my album, Deadpan Love, but didn’t feel like ‘Cheesin’ was right for it, but I also wanted it to go somewhere, so I reached out to JJ and the team at Republic and decided to release it as a benefit for all of the work lost, specifically for people in the live music industry. It just felt right for everyone involved."

Laura Segura, Executive Director of MusiCares, explained, "Support from collaborations like 'Cheesin'' allowed MusiCares to offer COVID-19 relief to music professionals and continue our health and human services to assist with physical and mental health, preventative clinics and so much more.”
