SPOTIFY HIGHLIGHTS AROOJ AFTAB

Spotify is wrapping up its Grammy week of Spotify Singles with Best New Artist nominee Arooj Aftab, who reimagines one of her own songs and covers one by a previous BNA contender.

The Pakistani artist/composer offers a reworking of her single “Baghon Main” and reinterprets “DI MI NOMBRE” by 2020 BNA nominee ROSALÍA, to which she applies her signature Qawwali melismatics.

The Spotify exclusives follow Aftab’s recent interview on Spotify: Mic Check, where she discussed her historic Grammy nom as the first Pakistani woman so recognized.

Aftab, who enjoyed a 257% increase in U.S. streams and a 127% increase in global streams on Spotify after the announcement of her BNA nom, recently joined Spotify’s EQUAL program, serving in March as its ambassador for Pakistan.

Spotify has also highlighted Best New Artist nominees Arlo Parks, FINNEAS, Jimmie Allen, Glass Animals and Japanese Breakfast as part of its Spotify Singles Grammy campaign.
