RSD U.K. REVEALS FIRST EXCLUSIVES

Limited-edition offerings from Patti Smith, Dire Straits and Deacon Blue benefiting the charity War Child will distinguish the U.K.'s observance of Record Store Day 2022, 4/23.

Smith’s contribution is a double LP of tracks selected by the RSD team spanning 1974 to 1996. It features “Gloria,” “Because the Night,” “Dancing Barefoot” and “People Have the Power,” among others. It has been limited to 2,250 copies in the U.K.

Dire Straits will release an exclusive 40th anniversary version of their 1982 album, Love Over Gold (Mercury). The set, which has been printed at half-speed, at Abbey Road Studios, to improve sound quality, boasts an essay about the album, including input from a new interview with Mark Knopfler, and an embossed lithograph. Just 1.5k copies will be available at participating record stores.

Deacon Blue will issue a 35th anniversary edition of its debut album, Raintown (Sony), featuring new liner notes from frontman Ricky Ross. Each of the 2k copies will be individually numbered and packaged in a foil-embellished sleeve.

£1 from every copy sold of the above will go to War Child to help protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in conflict.
