SHAZAM, APPLE MUSIC HAVE SOME PREDICTIONS

Shazam has selected five artists to watch in 2022 based on predictive data and algorithms. All five have fanbases beyond the U.S.

Using Shazam's data, Apple Music’s global editorial team assembled a 50-track collection of songs that show early indicators of future growth. The emerging artists hail from 25 countries and represent 17 genres, from Mandopop to regional Mexicano and hip-hop hybrids.

The five to watch are:

  1. Republic singer/songwriter Lyn Lapid, a Filipino American teenager who became a TikTok sensation in 2019 and last year saw her “In My Mind” chart in six countries, including the U.S., Brazil and Indonesia.
  2. Mexican American singer DannyLux, featured on Eslabon Armado’s TikTok hit “Jugaste y Sufrí,” the year’s most-Shazammed regional Mexicano track. Signed to VPS Music, he’s part of a wave of young artists reinventing corridos for a new generation.
  3. The Transgressive/Elektra duo Sad Night Dynamite, known for their blend of electronica, hip-hop and Britpop. They had their biggest Shazam success with “Demon,” which landed on the FIFA 22 soundtrack.
  4. Nigerian singer/songwriter Ayra Starr, whose debut 19 & Dangerous was released by Mavin/Platoon in July. Her “Bloody Samaritan” was the most-Shazammed song by a local female artist in Nigeria in 2021.
  5. K-pop girl group STAYC, who've maintained a steady presence with multiple songs on the South Korean Shazam chart since the April release of “ASAP” (High Up/Kakao).
