U.K. CHARTS: ELTON CLAIMS CROWN

Elton John has hit #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with The Lockdown Sessions (EMI) on 31k in sales. It is his first #1 album in nine years. Over on singles, Adele remains on top.

Of The Lockdown Sessions’ total sales, 84% were physical (CD and vinyl). The set marks Elton’s second #1 in less than a month following his “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” with Dua Lipa having seized the top singles spot two weeks ago. The collection is his eighth #1 album.

Lana Del Rey’s Blue Banisters (Polydor), the top-selling album on vinyl this week, settles for second place, while Duran Duran’s Future Past (BMG) opens at #3.

Biffy Clyro’s The Myth of the Happily Ever After (Warner Music U.K.) is new at #4 , and last week’s #1, Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres (Parlophone), drops to #5.

Elsewhere in the Top 10, a 40th anniversary expanded edition of The Rolling Stones’ Tattoo You (Polydor) charts at #7 and the debut EP from Mimi Webb, Seven Shades of Heartbreak (Epic), opens at #9. Prioritise Pleasure (Universal) by Self Esteem is new at #11.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Adele’s “Easy on Me” (Columbia) remains at #1 for a second week with 103k, including 11m streams.

THE ANXIETY’s viral hit, “Meet Me at Our Spot” (Polydor), climbs five places to a new peak of #12, and Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd claim this week’s highest new entry with "Moth to a Flame" (Republic), at #15.

Finally, Digga D’s “Red Light Green Light” (EGA) lands at #17 to become his ninth Top 40 single.
