As part of the 25th anniversary of The Spice Girls, Universal Music Group’s Bravado division has struck a multiyear deal with the group to handle merchandising, D2C products and campaigns, touring, brand and retail licensing and distribution.
The deal marks the first time in two decades that licensing rights across all channels have been assigned to a partner. The Spice Girls and Bravado will deliver new products and capsule collections to retail partners around the world.
The first music release is an expanded anniversary edition of TSG's debut album called SPICE 25 that features previously unreleased songs, demos and mixes. It comes out 10/29. Virgin Records released SPICE on 11/4/96.
“The Spice Girls’ impact on popular culture cannot be over-estimated,” said Rachel Redfearn, VP A&R and Brand Management for Bravado. “They stand for positivity, inclusion, bravery and diversity, all delivered in a bold, fun and energetic package. This message is as relevant today as it was in 1996. Bravado’s alliance with this most iconic of bands will allow fans the long-awaited opportunity to be part of the legacy. This breadth of rights gives us the vehicle to truly celebrate their legendary status.”
