Halsey chimed in on the Recording Academy's process, politics and "bribes" over the holiday weekend. In an Instagram story, the Capitol hitmaker—whose January album Manic was certified platinum this year—slammed the Grammy's "elusive" process, which she characterized as including behind-the-scenes campaigning and what could be interpreted as bribes. She also took a dig at the exclusive-TV-performance stipulations that artists are forced to sign, which serve the Academy and the network's advertising haul.
Along with The Weeknd, Halsey received zero nominations for the 63rd annual awards. Her 7x-platinum smash "Without Me" failed to earn a nom last year. She concluded that her album and The Weeknd deserve better and hopes for more transparency and reform. Read her full statement below.
