MAYBE, JUST MAYBE: TODAY I AM SO ANGRY

Yeah, I had my surgery. Yeah, it sucked, and yeah, it hurt badly, and yeah, it still hurts (but not as bad), and damn, I can’t exercise or play golf for six weeks.

That really sucks.

Hernia surgery is not recommended in the midst of the endless quarantine—especially since exercise and golf were my key outlets to channel my anger about the Trump administration and what has been done to our world.

It’s time to start my recovery from everything. Now that the surgery pain is subsiding a bit, I’m working on getting my eyes back, since they’ve been glued to MSNBC and CNN for an entire week.

My name is Lenny and I’m a cable news addict.

I’ve actually only watched an hour or so today, so my rehab has begun. But it’s hard to unplug completely with all the insane fallout still happening. Seriously: Rudy Giuliani and the democracy-dispute team were supposed to rent the Four Seasons hotel for their Philly presser, but they rented the Four Seasons Landscaping Company instead, between a crematorium and an adult bookstore called Fantasy Island. Reality trumps our dumbest jokes! That, too, makes me angry. Also, I miss the election’s breakout star, Steve Kornacki, and his maps.

There are still 70 days to put up with Trump and his pervasive evil, but it will pass. There will be hope again.

Besides our jobs, to which we have all remained steadfastly dedicated, there is one more vitally important task to undertake. There are two Senate seats in Georgia that will determine the majority for the next two years. If Jon Ossoff can defeat David Perdue AND the Rev. Raphael Warnock can oust Kelly Loeffler, then Mitch McConnell becomes Senate Minority Leader—and virtually powerless. If not, the new Biden administration will have to negotiate with him, and he will hamstring much if not all of the social change our country needs. Black lives do not matter to Mitch. Neither do health care, a living wage or social and economic justice of any kind.

Our efforts are incomplete without this final piece of the puzzle. We have not won everything we need to win, yet. We must not settle for Top Ten when we can still be #1.

So, this week I am asking you to do something to help out in Georgia. Donate some money, contribute some time, blast your social media, bug your friends—do all your wonderful magic. Do it for yourselves, your family, your friends. Do it for the future.

And please do it to quell my fury, since I’m not allowed to whack around the little white ball until Christmas. Email me if you need suggestions on the best ways to contribute; writing back will help me manage my anger.
