THE BRITISH ARE COMING: SAM FISCHER

Australian singer/songwriter Sam Fischer has fast become a major priority act for Sony U.K. label RCA in Britain and the U.S. His track “This City” peaked at #16 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, stayed in the Top 100 for six months and has traction worldwide.

RCA U.K. President David Dollimore signed Fischer after hearing more of his music than "This City," when “it was clear this was about an exceptional talent and not about just one song.” Working alongside RCA in the U.S., Dollimore’s U.K. team helped elevate “This City,” which has continued to climb the Hot AC chart, recently reaching a new peak of #13 and entering the Top 40 at #39. To date, Fischer has more than 250m streams and 1.5m in sales worldwide. He's had radio support from Capital, BBC Radio 2 and Bauer in the U.K.

According to Dollimore, Fischer’s appeal lies in his storytelling, voice and character. “Sam’s mastered the art of storytelling; his voice is incredible and distinctive, and he has an unbelievable arsenal of songs,” says the label head. “To top it off, he is one of the most genuine people I have met. I have had an unprecedented number of people internally and externally saying what a pleasure it has been to meet Sam. Being nice and respectful gets you a long way.”

So far, Fischer has had major U.S. TV slots including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ellen and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Key Spotify playlisting includes spots on Todays Top Hits as well as Hot Hits Australia, Canada, Denmark and New Zealand. In addition, “This City” was added to Apple Music’s Todays Hits. Worldwide, it’s been certified platinum in Australia (#17), Ireland (#18) and New Zealand (#20) and gold in Canada. Airplay chart peaks around the world include Australia #2, New Zealand #6, Denmark #12, Ireland #19 and Canada #28 (Hot AC).

To further broaden Fischer’s international base, RCA released several “This City” duets, including one with U.K. pop star Anne-Marie (which has surpassed 7.5m WW streams), country star Kane Brown (4.1m WW streams), Latin singer/songwriter Camilo (2.8m WW streams) and Swedish pop star Nea (1m WW streams).

So what are the plans and ambitions going forward? “I want Sam to inspire a generation,” answers Dollimore. That means consistently writing great music for himself and other artists, which most recently has been part of his Homework project. “Then it’s about world domination for the gentlemen from Australia,” Dollimore concludes.

Team members at RCA U.K. include Dollimore, A&R Joe Iddison, Head of Marketing Simon Forbes and MD Stacey Tang. Management is Brad Beausir; live agents are Jon Ollier and Elizabeth Holdforth at CAA.
