“I Remember Everything,” the final song John Prine recorded before his death, on 4/7 from complications related to COVID-19, has been pressed on 7-inch blue vinyl by Jack White’s Third Man Records as a limited-edition piece for release early next year. The B-side is an exclusive new version featuring a string arrangement.
Proceeds from the single will benefit the Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. Pre-order it from Prine’s Oh Boy Records.
The heart-wrenching ballad was featured in the Season 5 premiere of NBC’s hit series This Is Us and was played at the Democratic National Convention in a powerful tribute to those lost during the pandemic.
Written by Prine and longtime collaborator Pat McLaughlin, “I Remember Everything” was recorded last year in Prine’s living room with producer Dave Cobb and engineer Gena Johnson. The live take was filmed and can be viewed below.
