BYRNE'S RETURN
TO BROADWAY

David Byrne’s American Utopia has joined the Michael Jackson musical in announcing dates on Broadway next year. Byrne’s show will resume performances on 9/17, though it won’t be at its former home, the Hudson Theater.

Tickets are already on sale despite the location being unknown. The announcement coincides with Saturday’s premiere on HBO of Spike Lee’s film of Byrne’s show.

Last week, the Lia Vollack-produced Jackson musical, MJ, announced a Broadway debut in September 2021. It does not yet have an opening night.

Following its hit run last winter, Utopia had been scheduled to return to the Hudson for a September 2020-January 2021 run. Now, the Hudson is expected to be the home of the revival of Plaza Suite starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
