CHART STORY: DETROIT 2
MOTORS TO #1

Big Sean’s star-studded Detroit 2 (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) lands at #1 on the HITS Top 50. The Motor City rapper’s fifth studio album sold 111k units in its opening week, giving Sean his third consecutive chart-topping LP.

UMG has eight of the week's Top 10 titles.

For the fourth week in a row, Victor Victor/Republic’s Pop Smoke and Grade A/Interscope’s Juice WRLD take the #2 and #3 spots, respectively. The late rap heroes continue to top DSPs with their posthumous albums.

Putting an exclamation point on a breakthrough year, QC/Motown/Capitol’s Lil Baby just crossed the 2m threshold with his runaway album, My Turn—the only project to achieve that mark this year. It holds firm at #7.

Create Music Group’s 6ix9ine cracks the Top 5 with his sophomore set TattleTales posting 56k. Taylor Swift’s folklore (Republic) moves to #5 in its seventh week—following a six-week run at the top.

Other top debuts include Ozuna’s ENOC (Aura/Sony Latin) at #17, HARDY’s A Rock (Big Loud) at #23 and The Rolling StonesGoats Head Soup (Polydor/Interscope/UMe) at #24. Greatest gainers go to Queen’s Greatest Hits (Hollywood, +9%) and Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD (Cactus Jack/Grand Hustle/Epic, +8%), which we assume fans listened to on their way to McDonald’s to enjoy the rapper’s historic new meal.

Streeting this week are new projects from APG’s YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Big Machine’s Riley Green, Black River’s Kelsea Ballerini, Reprise’s Mastodon, Capitol’s FLETCHER and Capitol Nashville’s Mickey Guyton.
